Date Balls
Making date balls is very easy, and you can prepare and enjoy this delicious, energy-boosting snack in no time. The main ingredient in this snack is the date fruit, which is a rich source of minerals, vitamins, and elements such as calcium, phosphorus, sodium, potassium, magnesium, and zinc. The benefits of dates are incredible, including boosting energy, strengthening bones, improving anemia, enhancing heart function, and treating digestive issues.
To prepare date balls, there’s no need for an oven, and they will be ready quickly and effortlessly. This plant-based snack, thanks to the dates and nuts, is very healthy and doesn't require artificial sugar, as dates are sweet enough on their own. In fact, over 50% of the date fruit is made up of sugar, but this sugar is completely natural and lacks the harmful effects of artificial sugars and white sugar. It is recommended for those who have not yet tried date balls to follow the instructions below and prepare this delicious treat.
We have prepared three methods for making date balls.
Simple Date Balls
Ingredients
Pitted and peeled dates: 1.5 cups
Nuts (walnuts, almonds, or pistachios): 1.5 cups
Honey: 1 tablespoon
Orange juice or bitter orange blossom water (optional): 2-3 tablespoons
Desiccated coconut, sesame seeds, or colored trifle (optional): as needed
Simple Date Balls Recipe
To prepare the simple date balls, first lightly roast the nuts (such as walnuts, almonds, or pistachios) over low heat. In this recipe, roasted pistachios are also used, but this is entirely up to personal preference. It's important to note that the nuts should not be raw or salted when mixed with the dates.
As mentioned, remove the pits and skins from the dates, then combine them with the nuts in a blender. Once blended, place the mixture in a bowl and add fresh orange juice and honey. If orange juice is unavailable, rose water can be used instead.
After preparing the mixture, take portions about the size of a walnut and shape them into balls. Roll the balls in desiccated coconut, sesame seeds, or colorful trifle. Finally, place the finished date balls in the refrigerator to set.
Biscuit Date Balls
Ingredients
Pitted and peeled dates: 1.5 cups
Petit Beurre biscuits: 20 pieces
Walnut kernels: 10 pieces
Softened butter: 20 grams
Cinnamon water (optional): 1 tablespoon
Desiccated coconut, sesame seeds, or colorful trifle: as needed
Date Balls with Biscuits Recipe
First, peel the dates and remove their pits. The dates should then be thoroughly mashed in a suitable bowl. This can be done with a spoon or by using a blender. Next, place the mashed dates along with the softened butter in a pan and sauté for a little while until a uniform mixture is achieved.
At this stage, crush the biscuits and chop the walnuts. Add these to the mixture in the pan. Knead the mixture until it becomes smooth and no longer sticks to your hands. It’s a good idea to dampen your hands with a little cinnamon water before taking portions of the mixture and shaping them into balls.
Roll the prepared balls in decorative materials such as pistachio slivers, walnut powder, coconut, or almond slivers. Finally, refrigerate the date balls for a while before consumption to help maintain their shape.

Next, add the remaining ingredients such as pistachio powder, chocolate, rose water, cocoa powder, and cardamom to the mixture and knead it. Then, take portions of the mixture the size of a walnut and shape them into balls. Roll the date balls in decorative materials, and they are ready to serve.
